Trend LOCK/JIG Lock Jig with Interchangeable Templates
Trend LOCK/JIG Lock Jig
LOCK/JIG Trend Lock Jig uses a set of easy change interchangeable templates that allows the router to cut mortise and face-plate recesses on popular door locks, the jig requires the router to be fitted with a 30mm guide bush and 12mm long reach cutter. For most common sash mortise and dead locks, with up to 2 1/2″ deep mortises and a 7/8″ or 1″ face-plate, deeper mortises can be achieved with a suitable size of auger bit, also suits face-plate on a 1″ mortise latch , fast, clean and accurate results even in hardwood and doors with knotsCan be used with locks having the following Face-Plate dimensions

- 7/8″ x 6″ 22.5 x 152.5mm 2

- 1″ x 6 3/8″ 25.6 x 162 12
Mortise dimensions:
These are maximum mortise lengths, unless radius ends are squared with a Corner Chisel, however smaller mortise locks can be accommodated depending on position of their fixing screws
- Imperial Metric Template
- 5/8″ x 2 7/8″ 16 x 72mm A
- 5/8″ x 4 1/4″ 16 x 107mm B
- 3/4″ x 3 1/8″ 19 x 78mm C
- 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ 19 x 109mm D
A template for both the mortise and the face-plate is selected to suit the size of the lock. See chart above for suitable lock sizes
Templates are simply placed in the jig aperture and are held by two powerful magnets, the Lock Jig must be used with a 30mm guide bush and 12mm diameter cutter, if deep mortises are to be cut then a heavy duty router, such as the T9 should be used with a long reach cutter such as the TR37x1/2TC, if a medium duty router is to be used such as the T5, then full mortises are not possible and a suitable size auger bit fitted in a drill will be required to deepen the mortise
If the Lock Jig is to be used in conjunction with the Trend Hinge Jig, then the guide bush collar (included) should be used to bush out the 16mm guide bush to 30mm, thus making it unnecessary to change guide bushes between the Hinge and Lock routing operations
Mark the appropriate position for the lock and centralize on the door using the centre line notches within the jig aperture. The jig can then be clamped to the door, in most applications, the door will be held secured on its side, but the jig can be used with the door hung in the frame, if it is wedged in a fixed position, a measurement from the top of the door to the top of the jig can be used for further doors
